If you have worked with AutoCAD to produce planes in Persian language, you have probably encountered one of its most common issues: typing Persian (Farsi) in AutoCAD. In many cases, when typing Persian text in AutoCAD, we face problems such as the following:
- Persian characters appear disconnected from each other.
- Words are written backwards.
- The order of letters and words becomes distorted.
- Or in some versions, proper Persian typing is simply not supported at all.
This issue is quite frustrating for many Persian-speaking AutoCAD users, especially when preparing construction drawings, annotations, or labeling plans.
One of the simplest solutions to fix this problem is using the Kateb plugin. This plugin helps you insert Persian text into AutoCAD without issues and ensures that the text is displayed correctly.
Below, we will explain step-by-step how to install the Kateb plugin in AutoCAD.
Step One: Downloading the Kateb Software
Initially, as shown in the image, we go to the Downloads section of the Parham Academy website and enter the Soft & Application category. In this section, a collection of useful software and tools is provided.
Then, among the available software, we find the Kateb software and download it so we can use it later to solve the Persian typing issue in AutoCAD.
Step Two: Extracting the Files
After downloading, we extract the downloaded file. Once extracted, you will see two main components:
- The Kateb file with the extension LSP.
- A folder named Fonts, which contains the required font files.
At this stage, we open the Fonts folder and copy all the fonts inside it to use them later in AutoCAD’s font directory.
Step Three: Placing the Files in the AutoCAD Directory
In this step, you must place the fonts and plugin file in the correct AutoCAD installation path.
First, paste all the font files you copied earlier into the AutoCAD installation directory. This path is usually as follows (depending on your AutoCAD version it may differ slightly):
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 20XX\Fonts
Then, paste the Kateb plugin file with the LSP extension (usually named kateb.lsp) into the following directory inside the AutoCAD installation path:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 20XX\Support
After completing these steps, the files are now placed correctly, and we can proceed to load and activate the plugin in AutoCAD.
Step Four: Loading the Plugin in AutoCAD
Next, as shown in the image, we open AutoCAD.
In the Command Bar, we type:
APPLOAD
Then we press Enter to open the plugin loading window.
In this window, we navigate to the directory where we placed the Kateb (LSP) file. As shown in the image, we select the Kateb file and click Load to load the plugin into AutoCAD.
Final Note
Depending on the version of AutoCAD you are using, the Kateb plugin may not become active immediately after loading. This is normal and happens in some AutoCAD versions.
If you notice that Kateb is still not active after loading the file, simply:
- Close AutoCAD completely.
- Reopen AutoCAD again.
After restarting the software, the Kateb plugin will be fully activated, and from this point onward you can easily type Persian text correctly inside AutoCAD.
Everything is now ready—
Enjoy proper and seamless Persian typing in AutoCAD.
